The piste parallel with the coast along Plage Blanche W of Guelmin. In fact not a piste at all but some tracks made mostly by a bunch of Nissan trucks that ferry tourists around there. The tracks kept splitting and getting fainter and rougher until we were pretty much off-road and slightly concerned about finding a way forward. With the GPS on we could have back tracked easily but were determined not to and found a way through by luck and judgment. This was the day we got within inches of the cars limits. In the lower parts of the terrain were it was sandy the track was overgrown with grassy humps on the center ridge that the valance had to knock off, which it did with a heavy right foot on the peddle

Still the Plage Blanche track heading SE to try to connect with the track marked on the map from a mosque named Noftia to Aoreora on the coast. Mostly there were one or two recent tire marks still though they all ended at flat houses like the one here and presumably they left the same way. We had to cut across open bits to reach the next bit of track but eventually after wading a shallow stream (check this MOV) the tracks instead of diverging started to converge into clearer tracks and we eventually made it through.

We had camping gear and always at least a few days supply of water and food in reserve. In this area you could get in trouble if injured but most likely it'll be only the car that's hurt and you could walk out in time.

Just when you think you're hardcore, over a rise comes an elderly French couple in a soft ass mobile home. This one on the piste to the French run campsite near Daoura, N of Laayoune. We camped nearby and cooked our own camel tagine. You can't get beef if the cows can't graze so it's all camel down the markets in the western Sahara. Nice it is too.

Do you see the car? This place seems to be a hidden gem. I've not heard anyone mention it before but this place is fantastic. North of Lemsid the coast is all like this and you can find some (pretty rough and steep) tracks down to the cliff top to camp, well away from the road. It's easy to miss though as you can't see the sea from the road. Look for cairns (stone piles) that mark the piste's going W to the sea. I think it was half way between the roads only big bend to the W and Lemsid but there were a few piste's to choose from.

Clearly not a piste but couldn't resist this locust invasion north of Tafraoute on the way back up north.

Part of the marvelous piste that goes N from the P32 just E of Taliouine and loops round W to Aoulouz

A very Berber town along the same piste.

Same piste again

And the next morning by where we camped along the same piste.
And again..... You could do this piste in any hired Fiat Uno/Palio etc and if you're near I thoroughly recommend it.
